June Theme 2019 - Dogs
We are doing something a little different for our June Artblog Theme. As June 21st will be Dog Friendly Ireland Day ran by Dog Trust. Boulder will be doing their own take on the event, as we cannot fully open our doors to the public, we will be opening our doors to staff to bring their Dogs in for the day.
Submissions will run the same as always, you have from June 1st-19th to get your submissions up on the Artblog and in this case, original Artwork or good quality prints, preferably framed or in protective packaging as these will be displayed in the Boulder Canteen Gallery and then Auctioned off on Dog Friendly Day.
The Theme is based around Dogs but we are happy to receive any Artwork at all. Old or New.
All proceeds will go to Dogs Trust Dog Rescue Center. So Artists we need you more then ever!!!

New Theme: Medieval
The Western theme was a huge success so we've decided to do another historical theme for March.
We have decided upon.....
We have decided upon.....
"Medieval"
Submit your castles/cathedrals, sirs/serfs, maidens/monarchs and anything else remotely medieval by the 29th March to be in with a chance of winning a prize. As always the theme is up for interpretation; magic and sci-fi elements are welcome.
Winner : Wild West
Howdy Boulderites,
The votes are in! And it was a pretty close call but the winner for February's 'Wild West' theme, by just a few votes, is Damien Colboc! Well done Damien! A prize will be on it's way to you. If your interested in seeing more of Damien's work you can view his tumblr page here: https://damiencolboc.tumblr.com/
Joint second place goes to Antonio Gimenez and Marc Perez (for War Painting). Well done guys!
Before we all go riding off into the sunset, I just want to thank all the artists for this months blog. It was our biggest ever and the quality, as always, was fantastic. Thanks to everyone who voted too. We had another huge turn out.

Fella on his Horse, Annie Oakley and Cup of Tea, Anyone?
The lady in this is taken from reference. I don't THINK this image would ever have popped in to my head naturally.
Some time in the 1800s this handsome gal thought this would be a good photo idea and I salute her for it.
(Also, if you don't know that cowboy saying about getting off horses and drinking milk, then this will seem MENTAL. I'm telling you, this image is all completely based in fact.)
Annie Oakley was a proper bad ass sharpshooter of the late 1800's who traveled fairs as an exhibition shooter and taught the gals of the wild west how to handle a fire arm and defend themselves. Brutal times.
She offered her shooting skillz and to lead female sharpshooters in World War 1, but when she had no response she visited army camps, raised money for the Red Cross and volunteered with military charities instead.
Whatta gal.
Some fella on a horse.

Wild West
Already onto February's theme and you'd better saddle up for this 'yin -- as the new theme is
'The Wild West'.
So watch your favourite spaghetti western, walk around like John Wayne, play that Red Dead PS4 game from last year, ride into work on horseback anything that will get you inspired.

The Snow Maiden
This is the snow maiden or Snegyrochka, she is Father Frost's niece. She was created out of snow by an elderly couple who couldn't have children. with the help of the North winds and Father Frost she was brought to life and became the old couples daughter. Unfortunately she could not stay with them when spring came, so she was adopted by Father Frost and is now his helper and bring Christmas joy to all. There is another version of her tale and you can easily find it on Wiki. she is kinda our version of Miss Claus. Hope you guys like it, first time posting. Hoping to do this more often.

Santa Claus has been to town...
I remember as a kid lying in my bed unable to sleep. Santa had been but I was waiting impatiently for a more respectable time to get up (6.30am would do!!). That waiting is a very strange period of time. It's so quiet, you can hear the air and you feel like you're the only person awake in the world.
In this picture, Santa finished up his deliveries hours ago at this house and he's celebrated that moment. The town is still but i'd like to think there's some kid out there who is going through what I did.
