November Winner

It is with great embarrassment I must announce the winner of this months theme...okay, I was me! So with out further adu, a huge congradulations to the joint runners up Finbar Coyle and Grainne Quinlan, with Tim Dowling taking the third spot. Have a look at their blogs, some gorgeous work on there. Everyone had said it was a really difficult month to choose the winner. Thanks all who got invoved I know how busy everyone is.

I'll be posting the theme for the December and final months theme of 2012 very shortly so stay tuned.

Slan.
I finally got home today after trying to Christmas shop, seeing the math and aftermath of a manslaughter on Nassau street and then waiting an hour-and-a-half in the rain for a bus that never came. In the end I got a taxi and boy was I glad to be home. There's no place like it.

Home as I remember it.

This is sort of a memory sketch of a day my sister and I spent waiting for the world to end in our front garden. A rumour had been spread in school that day. Sufice to say the world didn't end.

Warm and Cozy home

(I know it's super doodly and rushed but I couldn't let this theme pass by)
There's no place like home and the warm (very familiar feeling) starts when I meet my family at the airport
- always feel super little coming home to mom and dad.

No Place like home..

My idea of home, curling up with a good book and letting my imagination getting the better of me.

Irish Fisherman

The Irish coastline is something i never get tired of. The lighthouse is based on the very cool Hook Lighthouse in County Wexford.

Hibernation

This time of year, especially at around 7.30 in the morning on a weekday, my thoughts turn to hibernation and how nice it would be just to curl up and sleep somewhere warm and cosy until spring comes.

My gorgeous little niece and nephew from Melbourne, Australia mailed these to me over the weekend as they know their Auntie Gillybean loves to see their artwork. I thought it would be nice to pop them up for you guys to see. They did such a brilliant job!

This is Isabelles Frankenstein Spider Monster, notice her name hidden very well in amoung the spiderwebs.

This is Ryans Frankenstein Spider Monster, funnily enough they didn't intend on doing the same type of drawing it just ended up that way....spooky or what!!!

Halloween Pic

I read that the reason that we go Guising dates back to when Christians believed that spirits leaving the earth for the other world on Hallows Eve would pay one last vengeful visit to any living person who had done them wrong. So the unfortunate victim would try and confuse the spirit by disguising themselves, like this poor fella....  (I've also been watching Fantasia)

All Hallows Eve

The new theme for the month of October could only be "Halloween". We were gonna pick a specific spooky theme but there were too many deadly ideas knockin about so this way you can really interpret it to suit yourself. We had Werewolves to Slasher movies to the Supernatural Zombie Apocalypse' so how could we decide really????

The prize for this one is EXTRA special and will be decided before the Halloween extravagnaza Fancy Dress Party!

Remeber: you can enter as many pieces as you like, be as crazy as you like, use whatever media you like. Can't wait to see what you guys come up with....It's gonna be a good one, I can tell.

He did this with a broken collar bone injury and all....his heroes would be well proud. Nice job Mick Plummer for being the winner of last month "Childhood Heroes". It was a very close call with just one vote between them. So congradulations to Aine McGuinness and Manuela Gualtieri for their great pieces too. We are not forgetting the rest of you either great work everyone and thanks a million for posting each month.

Heroes in a half shell!

I can't remember how long my Turtles phase lasted but it was long enough for me to have a lunchbox and pyjamas!

Childhood Hero

My favourite manga character ever. She's an alien, she can fly, and she strikes her boyfriend with electric shock attacks whenever he flirts with other girls :D

Fievel Mousekewitz!

I asked Santa for a suprise one year and when I came downsatirs Christmas morning there was Fievel sitting on the side of the couch waiting for me.
I honestly nearly choked I was so happy. Best present I ever got in my life. After seeing an American Tail I was obsessed. I brought Fievel everywhere, still have him!!!

This is the actual fievel I got from Santa!!!

Childhood Hero....

..... depends what day of the week it was.

A long time ago... I had a childhood hero

So here's the guy I imagined myself to be, running through fields in a time long past, in a galaxy far away...

Childhood Hero

While most older brothers would torture their younger siblings, Mike would always let me join in. The only problem was keeping up.... (My haircut and the cloths are unfortunately accurate).

My Dad-the Hero

So while I was working on this months theme (which I never managed to get finished) my 3 year old Jonah wanted to do one too and here's his contribution to this months hero theme, suprisingly not Spiderman, but his Daddy. Bless.

Monday, 10 September 2012

Tank Girl.... my childhood hero

I took a bit of a liberty with the idea of 'childhood hero', but I did find out about TG when I was in my teenage years, so I'm counting that as childhood.
